We really must get our act together very soon

It was a shame the players did not show the same enthusiasm as the supporters did at Yeovil.

More than 650 fans made the long journey south, in nine coaches kindly paid for by the club.

But the afternoon was to end in disappointment and frustration.

We never seem to do well at Yeovil, and you just knew that James Hayter would come back to haunt us.

He made us pay when James Husband committed a foul in the box and our Wembley hero dispatched the spot kick with ease. The five-hour journey back home seemed like an eternity.

Not many of the players came out with a lot of credit. Sam Johnstone continues to impress and Bongani Kumalo put in another decent performance, but I think Paul Dickov was clutching at straws saying that we should have had a penalty.

We need to get our act together very soon. Last season our away form won us promotion, but this term it’s just one win on the road so far.

This Saturday sees us make another long trip to las season’s other promoted team Bournemouth. Let’s hope we get the same result as last year when Hubby scored in the dying minutes.

I must just mention we raised over £750 in the raffles last weekend. That will be split between LJS Foundation and St John’s Hospice in Balby. We are hoping to present the cheques next Saturday.

I can’t leave without mentioning the Louis Tomlinson reserves fixture against Rotherham on Wednesday night either.

More than 5,300 fans turned up, mainly screaming young girls, and although the game did not produce any goals, Louis played for the last 25 minutes (and had more touches than John Ryan).

It was a night that put Rovers on the map. You can’t buy that sort of publicity and I just hope Bluebell Wood makes a decent amount for such a worthy cause.

I got talking to one fan, Ashley Naurbett, who had flown in from Michegan in the USA to the game. I also heard two girls had flown in from Mexico.
