Tramlines was great

The audience was entertained by a full day of superb artists, culminating in the awesome performance by Sheffield-based Dale Storr and his band. As far as I am concerned, Dale is the next Jools Holland - and he is right here, in Sheffield!

The audience was treated to a brilliant keyboard performance of New Orleans music, backed by a superb band of musicians, in particular the excellent Kim Mayhew on saxophone.

I do wish, though, that audience members would refrain from constantly talking while bands are playing.

After all, would you go to the cinema and talk all the way through the film? I think not. I am delighted to say that blues music is alive and very well in Sheffield.

Please go see Dale Storr before he moves into the premier league, playing arenas.

I’d like to thank all the volunteers who helped to make Tramlines such an excellent weekend. It was great to see so many people enjoying such a wonderful event. From the bands on Devonshire Green, to the Continental market on Fargate - not to forget the packed pubs across the city - everyone seemed to be having a good time.

This was the best year yet, with the biggest turnout since it was introduced by the Lib Dem administration two years ago.

Events like Tramlines are great advert for Sheffield.

We put on an excellent show and I hope it will continue for years to come.
