So we have Doncaster’s elected Mayor Ros Jones up in arms, because she says Central Government has cut £5 million of funding from the council’s budget for this year, DFP (Inside your town hall) Thursday February 13, 2020.

Maybe, just maybe there is someone in Central Government who is monitoring all the northern Labour controlled Councils, who pay their chief executives more than the Prime Minister of England and are also paying the top tier of Council Officers in excess of £100,000 per year, yet Mayor Jones is quite happy to increase the Council Tax every year by at least 4.99% and then openly and proudly announce that we will receive less services and there will be more job cuts, these job cuts won’t be at the upper pay scale workers, no it will again be the lower paid essentials workers, by that I mean, street cleaning teams etc, If DMBC are so cash strapped, maybe Ros Jones can tell the residents of Doncaster why they are being billed for a Chauffeur driven car for our Civic Mayor?

I believe it is time for the residents of Doncaster to vote for change vote for a Council who can prioritise their budget to include Adult social care, child care, and education, instead of building new unnecessary museums and cinemas, enough is enough we need a road repairing strategy putting in place sooner rather than later.

Hatfield Town Councillor Mick Glynn, Doncaster Road, Hatfield.
