'Doncaster is filthy'

I have just read the Doncaster Street Scene article in the DFP. I am appalled that Doncaster Councillors have only just realised that the town from east to west, north to south is filthy. The majority of people know when something is clean and tidy and when it is not. Roads and pavements have not been swept properly for many years, neither have drains been cleaned. Some grass verges are never mown. One verge that never receives any attention is Armthorpe Road from the Golf Club to the iron bridge, goodness know what the many strangers who visit the Rugby Club think.

I am shocked to read that Mr Dale is bringing in consultants to tell him what needs to be done, Mr Dale is paid to do a job, if he cannot do it then he should step aside and allow some one in who can. It is very easy to see so much that requires attention.

One final point. More and more people are driving on grass verges which is turning them to mud and making them very unsightly. Vehicles should not be driven onto a grass verge but I do not think anything is going to change. So why not dig up the damaged verges and tarmac them, to make parking spaces, they would then look better and be maintenance free.
