I have long been an advocate that following that occurrence a bye-election should be called and that goes for MPs or Ward Councillors.

I have also had a long standing believe that all candidates should have strong roots in the constituency or ward they represent a good example would be residence of a minimum of five years and residency maintain during the term of office .

This would allow residents regular contact with elected members and surely improve democracy.

Edlington , at present are represented by one Councillor living in Sprotbrough and working at times in London and the other living in Wakefield certainly not ideal .

Both their attendance record at Council Meeting leaves a lot to be desired is it not time for deductions to be made from expenses following non-attendance and taking note of the digital age do we really need two Councillors per Ward.
