We asked our readers who are eligible for an appointment what their experiences of having the jab have been so far.

Kerry Dewsnap, said: “My dad has had it and he’s fine.“He actually said no effects at all.”Better than flu jab.”

Paul Webster, said: “My dad has got his on Saturday.”

One reader Nicky Webster is not happy about the distance his relative was asked to travel – around 30 miles.

He said: “My stepdad, who is over 70 and vulnerable, was offered a vaccine yesterday, but in Leeds.

“He lives in Carcroft!”

Reader Adrian Rawling has a theory as to why not everyone has heard news yet.

“I can only presume they are working through a list A-Z based on surname.” he said.

But some of our readers are unhappy that the elderly people in their lives are yet to get the vaccine.

Julie Varley-Kirk, said: “ I have got family in mid 80s and not had vaccine yet, what’s happening?”

Marie Robson, said: “My nan is 90-years-old this year and still not been called.”

Lisa Kerrigan, said: “My mum's 78 in March and she's still waiting”

Angela McInnes has had a similar experience.

She said: “My mum’s 79, not had hers yet, lives in Rossington.”
