Twenty members of staff donned their Santa outfits in support of this year’s Santa Stride in support of Lindsey Lodge Hospice. They walked the 5km from New Life Church on Brumby Wood Lane to Central Park, Scunthorpe rising just over £1,000 through the entry fee and sponsorship.

A further £1,000 has also been raised by staff through a Christmas raffle. This has been shared between Scunthorpe Cat Rescue in Gunness and SOBS (survivors of bereavement by suicide) with £568 being given to each charity.

Pat Knight runs the cat rescue and was extremely grateful for the generous donation from ongo staff, “The money will really help us out and will go towards food, vet bills and flea & wormer treatment for the cats. It costs such a lot of money to keep the cat rescue up and running and we are so grateful for donations to help us keep going.”

Erica Sanderson, Policy & Research Officer at ongo nominated the cat rescue to receive a portion of the funds raised, she said: “The cat rescue is such a good local cause to raise money for. They work so hard to look after the cats that are brought into them, so to be able to give them this money knowing it will help out so much is great.

“The staff here at ongo are always really generous when it comes to helping out local good causes, and this was no different.”
