Boy band sensations One Direction scooped two gongs at a prestigious music awards ceremony yesterday - but missed out on scoring another number one with their latest single.

Pop’s hottest property - featuring Bessacarr heart-throb Louis Tomlinson - were named as Best British Group at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards while the band also picked up the Best British Single award for Best Song Ever.

The winners were voted for by listeners of Radio 1 with the acts collecting their prizes at the event at London’s Wembley Arena.

But there was disappointment as the band were denied their fourth number one with Story Of My Life, which only made number four in the top 40 rundown.

The Monster, by rap star Eminem and dance sensation Rihanna hit the top spot with superstar DJ Fatboy Slim also beating the boys in the chart race with new song Eat Sleep Rave Repeat debuting at number three while Royals by Lorde also finished ahead of 1D in the chart rundown.
