Six injured in Mexborough car smashes

Six people were injured and a man was arrested following two separate car smashes on the same day in Mexborough.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crashes on Saturday which left two teenagers and a 29-year-old woman in hospital with serious injuries.

The first was at around 4.15am. A a silver Honda Civic mounted a kerb and collided with a building on Wath Road. Three people in the car, a 21-year-old woman and men aged 25 and 29, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 29-year-old woman who was also in the car sustained serious injuries and was also taken to hospital. The 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

In a separate incident, at around 3.35pm a silver Ford Fiesta was travelling along Pastures Road in Mexborough, from the direction of High Melton. Just before the junction with Pastures Lane, the car collided with a stone wall before coming to rest in a field.

The 17-year-old male driver and a 15-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 17-year-old male passenger was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Pastures Road was closed for five hours following the crash.
