Free parking in Doncaster to boost trade

Christmas shoppers have been offered free parking in a Doncaster car park over the festive season.

Jones Mayor of Doncaster, has announced free parking at Chappell Drive car park.

This car park will be free to park for up to five hours from Monday 2 December until Tuesday 24 December 2013 between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

This initiative does not apply to any other council operated car park or on-street pay and display bays. All terms, conditions and tariffs still apply to those car parks and on-street parking

Bank Holiday shoppers will also enjoy free car parking in Doncaster. From 6pm on Tuesday 24 December until 8am on Friday 27 December all council operated car parks and on street pay and display bays will be free of charge. This will also apply from 6pm on Tuesday 31 December until 8am on Thursday 2 January 2014.

Colonnades underground car park on Duke Street will close an hour earlier than usual – at 5pm – on 24 and 31 December.

Sunday shoppers can always park for free at council operated car parks and on-street pay and display bays in Doncaster.

Mexborough shoppers can park for free in the town centre’s multi-storey car park adjacent to the town’s market.

Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “I am urging people across the borough to support local businesses this Christmas and hope that they will take advantage of this free parking offer. There are so many reasons to shop in Doncaster from our award winning markets to the modern Frenchgate centre and bustling high street. As well as the shops there are some great town centre events over the festive season to keep the whole family entertained.”
