A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after a cigarette sparked a blaze in her home, the Free Press understands.

The 88-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation following the house fire in The Homestead, Bentley.

Paramedics treated her at the scene before taking her to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

It is believed the blaze began when a discarded cigarette set fire to some tissues on Friday night at around 10pm.
