"This means that we are currently caring for 64 individuals who have this illness, 58 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and six at Worksop’s Bassetlaw Hospital. At the time of writing, six patients requite intensive care, and we wish them the speediest of recoveries.

“Our admission numbers have more than doubled since last Sunday when we were caring for 31 individuals.

“Colleagues continue to manage our position admirably and with the same determination as they did at the outset of this pandemic, however, at present, we are seeing a sharper increase in admissions than what we saw earlier this year.

“The majority of those within our care are over 70, so please continue to shield the vulnerable, look out for one another and remember hands, face and space.

"As a Trust, we may have some challenging weeks ahead, but, looking for positives as we always do, we have an amazing team, supported by an equally amazing community.

"Let's continue to support one another, stick together and, eventually, we will without a shadow of a doubt give Covid-19 the boot from our towns.

There have been 238 recorded deaths in Doncaster’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic, but with others in the community, the total is more than 250.
