North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust gains high praise at global conference

Makani Hemadri is giving his expertise this week during the conference as the spotlight focuses on improving health care.

The Microsystem Festival, which is held in Jonkoping, attracts keynote speakers and delegates from across the globe. Speakers this year will be jetting in from across the UK, Denmark, America, New Zealand and Australia.

The four-day event, which kicked off on Tuesday and finishes tomorrow, will focus on topics such as how to achieve patient empowerment.

It will also highlight such important areas as the power of storytelling; integration of patient safety into daily work; empowering patients to manage their conditions through peer support; redesigning diabetes services and improving discharge time.

Mr Hemadri has been invited to present his expert opinions at the prestigious event and will be focusing on micro-cultures within organisations, what it is and why it matters.

He said: “Jonkoping is a county in Sweden where they have taken a whole systems approach to quality improvement across the area, including lots of different specialities, facilities and professions and not just about health.

“The Yorkshire region has a long association with Jonkoping, in particular for mutual sharing and learning about health care quality improvement across the board. I am very thrilled to have been chosen to present my opinions at such a prestigious conference.”

He will be focusing on the micro-culture at Scunthorpe and Goole hospitals involving the endoscopy and theatre service which provides a quick and streamlined experience for the patient. He added: “I am very happy that our Trust is getting recognition at such a major international conference.”

He said he would be mingling with experts from across the world, including Helen Bevan – named as one of the 60 most influential people in the history of the NHS. She is currently chief transformation officer with NHS Horizons Group.
