Nominate your Isle hero for Humberside Fire Service awards

The Fire and Rescue Service is seeking nominations for local heroes, to be honoured at a Community Awards night later this year.

The winner will be chosen by public vote. Last year’s winner was joiner Duncan Kirk of Keyingham who was praised for his bravery in saving a disabled man from a house fire.

Members of the public are asked to think of a family member, friend or colleague who they feel has acted in a heroic manner.

Nominations could be for quick thinking actions in any situation such as a road traffic collision, water rescue or medical response, or simply for people who just make a really positive difference to others through their actions.’

Katrina Goodhand, organiser of the Community Awards for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, said: “There will be a number of different awards given at the ceremony to members of the public, our partners and staff in recognition of the contribution they have made in creating safer communities. For the Local Hero Award, we are asking people to nominate someone they think has acted in a manner befitting the title of ‘Local Hero’.”

Nominations can be submitted to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service by filling in the form on their website or by sending a letter to:
