Staff from Nisa’s Member Support Centre in Scunthorpe supported the Scunthorpe Maternity Bereavement Suite Appeal last week by holding a full-day fundraising event which raised over £1,400 for the cause.
Nisa’s own registered charity, Making a Difference Locally, celebrates its 10th birthday this year and rather than simply hold an event for colleagues, it was decided that the event should also help raise money for a worthy local cause.
The fundraising day raised £1,469.80 through activities including a raffle, competitions and breakfast, lunch and afternoon treats, which were provided for a small donation. Making a Difference Locally also donated additional funds to bring the total donation to £3,000.
The Health Tree Foundation (HTF), the charity for Scunthorpe General Hospital, launched the appeal to raise £150,000 to create a brand new bereavement suite on the central delivery suite at Scunthorpe General Hospital. The idea behind the suite is to provide a safe haven for families to stay and spend time together with their babies after they have passed away.
Kate Carroll, Nisa’s Head of Charity, commented: “We are delighted to celebrate our 10th year of supporting local communities and the fundraising day was a great way of doing so.”
