New sponsor announced for historic race at Doncaster

Doncaster Racecourse has completed a major new sponsorship deal for its iconic group 1 October fixture. Stockbroking firm Vertem Asset Management, run by Yorkshire-based racehorse owner John Dance, is the new title sponsor of the event, formerly known as the Racing Post Trophy.

The change in headline sponsor follows a 30 year deal with The Racing Post.

Tim Banfield, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: 'We're thrilled to welcome Vertem Asset Management to Doncaster Racecourse as the new title sponsors of our renowned October fixture.

'We've had a great partnership with The Racing Post for three decades, but the time has come for a new headliner to step in and put their name to the event.

'Vertem's CEO, John Dance, is a racehorse owner himself, owning Laurens, a winning horse that is trained in Yorkshire and who took the title at the French Oakes this summer, so racing is ingrained in the company's DNA.

'We'd like to thank The Racing Post for their support over the years and we look forward to embarking on this exciting new partnership in the years to come.'

John Dance said: 'Vertem Stockbrokers is all about building something for the future.

'In our business we aim to provide growth and protection to clients' assets, and in terms of this sponsorship, not only are we supporting the future stars of the sport, but we are equally delighted to be helping Doncaster develop the future heritage of this historic race by reinstating '˜Futurity' in its title.

'We believe this sponsorship, just like our investment aims, will deliver a high quality, long-term relationship with Doncaster and we look forward to a very exciting future working with them'

The Vertem Futurity Trophy is the last Group 1 race of the British flat season and will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Doncaster Racecourse.

The meeting, covering both October 26 and 27, will be broadcast live on At The Races and ITV.
