A revamped Post Office is to open in Edlington later this month.

The modernised Hill Top Post Office in Violent Avenue has been given the stamp of approval to offer extended opening hours as well as increased services.

The shop will launch at 1pm on October 23 and will be provided at a combination counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.

Customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

The branch will need to close temporarily for refurbishment from 17:30 on Thursday 16 October.

During this short time customers can access Post Office services from alternative branches, including:

Edlington Post Office, Edlington Lane, Edlington, Doncaster, DN12 1BS

Windmill Avenue, 23 Windmill Avenue, Conisbrough, Doncaster, DN12 2DH

The Post Office service will be available during the store’s opening hours, 7am to 9pm, seven days a week, so customers can visit when it is most convenient.

Local residents will now be able to access a wide range of Post Office services during the shop’s opening hours - 52 hours a week more than previously offered.

Hill Top Post Office is looking forward to introducing existing customers to the new service, and welcoming new people to the store. They hope customers will be pleased with the flexibility and convenience of the new Post Office service.

Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can pay bill, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

Lesley Frankland, Area Manager said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Doncaster and we are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community in Edlington will be popular.

She added: “The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.
