New location and longer hours for Isle post office

Plans are in place to provide a new location, longer hours and Sunday opening for Haxey Post Office.

The Post Office is proposing to relocate 260 metres down the road where it will open as a modern open-plan local-style branch.

Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services and the new Haxey branch will offer Post Office products and services throughout shop opening hours from an open-plan till at the shop counter instead of from a separate screened counter.

The proposed new location for the branch is Greenhill Stores at 2 Greenhill Road.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 6am-9pm Monday to Friday and 7am-9pm on Saturday and Sunday. This would offer an extra 57 hours of Post Office service every week.

The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

Adrian Wales, Regional Manager said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Haxey and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The consultation will close on May 27. Submissions can be made by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to [email protected], or on 08457 22 33 44.
