A hotly anticipated live music venue in Doncaster is set to open its doors to the public next month.

Diamond Live Lounge, which is based at the top of Wood Street in Doncaster town centre and was formerly known as Camelot’s and most recently Reload, stood unoccupied for 18months until two local businessmen decided to transform the venue into a stylish and contemporary music venue.

Tickets for the launch event which will see popular band ‘The South’ headlining on Friday, June 20 have just gone on sale.

The band which features original members of chart toppers Beautiful South will perform all the classics including Perfect 10, Rotterdam and Don’t Marry Her.

The event will also see Sheffield, Indie-pop band Alverez Kings and local duo Ginger Tom taking to the stage to entertain guests. (Doors open from 7pm).

The new venue offers a 700 standing capacity, and also boasts an-all star management line-up and comes in the form of Dominic Gibbs, MMA and cage fighting promoter who is used to hosting, prestigious sports and business events, alongside Andy O’Grady formerly of DCLT and responsible for bringing some of the biggest names to the town including Stereophonics and Kasabian.

Andy, O’Grady, events director said: “The launch of Diamond Live Lounge is an extremely exciting time for our team, the people of Doncaster and the local region. We will be offering a live music event every Friday, an exclusive over 25’s lounge on Saturday nights and the first Wednesday of each month will see local legend Errol Rollins hosting a diverse range of musical talent.

“The venue will offer an eclectic mix of musical talent from across the region, to support local up and coming artistes as well as welcoming some of the biggest names the industry has to offer.

“We saw a gap in the live music market in Doncaster and wanted to get the local community out into the town centre for a night out with a difference.”

The venue has undergone a major five week refurbishment which enlisted the help of Signum Facilities Management, Hughes Decorating, Concept Ceramics, Ultimate Lighting and SHL tool, plant and skip hire.

Dominic Gibbs, director adds: “The venue has had a total refurbishment - a new stage, vip area created, fully licensed bar and toilet facilities, and we couldn’t have done it without the help and support of some great local businesses.

“We are all for working, supporting and promoting the businesses in Doncaster which is why we sourced most things locally - even one of the bands for the launch night.”
