HUMBERSIDE Police have their first female Chief Constable, in the form of Justine Curran, it has been confirmed.
Ms Curran, who was born in Sheffield, is currently the Chief Constable of Tayside in Scotland.
She was put forward for the position to be left vacant by retiring Chief Constable Tim Hollis, by the force’s Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Grove last month.
Ms Curran has said she is delighted at her appointment, that was approved unanimously by the Humberside police and crime panel.
She has named priorities as working with communities and tackling violent crime.
The new chief will take up her post at the end of March. She previously served as an officer in the Greater Manchester and Merseyside forces, and took up her Tayside role in 2009.
