Many volunteers and groups from around Doncaster and Sheffield were involved in the costly operation to create the new facility, including Flying Futures and New Beginnings. Pupils from XP School in Doncaster dedicated hours of volunteering at the start of the project, clearing pathways and vegetation to free wild flowers in the woodland area.

Nathan the Forest Horse also visited the site with his owner Peter Coates to help move five heavy wooden support beams for the new bridge.

Project Officer Kat Woolley said: “There has been a lot of interest in the project area and we

can now tell our visitors that they are free to explore this fantastic area!”

The Executive Director of The Veolia Environmental Trust, Paul Taylor, added, “The new features that have

been created will mean more people will be able to enjoy the reserve and the species that call it home. We love it when volunteers get involved in projects we have helped, and everyone needs to be congratulated on their achievements.”
