Nerveless Ed Sutton wins nail-biting tie-breaker at Wheatley Hills' club finals

Ed Sutton triumphed in a three hour classic against club coach Myles Collett to win the mens' singles title at the Wheatley Hills Tennis Club Finals Day.

Both men wasted four match points before Sutton's power serve proved decisive in the tie breaker, helping him to a 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 win and his first singles title.

Jasmine Brown defended the ladies' singles title in emphatic style with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Olivia Parkin.

Brown then doubled up by winning the ladies' doubles title alongside Janet Arrowsmith.

And Lewis Nichol and Sam Arrowsmith claimed the mens' doubles title with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Tim Brown and Luke Hickton.

The mixed doubles title went to Mick Fox and Rosy Crowley.

The club's Junior Championship was played alongside the senior event this year.

Hickton claimed the U17s crown with Samson McNulty taking the U13s title.

Solaf Allam won the U10s championship, Michael Butterfield was the U9s winner and Matty Munroe took the U8s crown.

The club is open for new players in the Autumn Juniors, which are held at 9.30am on Saturdays with Adults at 1.30pm.
