AddictiveTips.com analysed data from the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau on 43 police forces to establish which areas of England and Wales experienced the most social media and email hacking cases between January to December 2020.

It found that South Yorkshire Police reported 240 cases of social media and email hacking in the period - and those who fell prey to the crime incurred a collective financial loss of £50,600

Metropolitan Police had the highest amount of social media and email hacking cases at 2,357.

Overall, from 43 police forces across England and Wales, there were 13,343 cases of social media and email hacking from January to December 2020

From the 13,343 cases, the accumulative financial loss victims suffered was £3,573,079.

South Yorkshire Police was ranked 21st of the 43 forces surveyed.
