NCEL: Armthorpe Welfare beat East Yorkshire Carnegie to end 11-game sequence without victory

Armthorpe Welfare ended their 11-game run without a win by recording a 3-1 victory at East Yorkshire Carnegie.

Goals from Luke Williams, Alan Jackson and Darren Mansaram earned Welfare their first win since mid-December.

Welfare made a bright start with Chris Simpkins and Steve Rollinson both warming the hands of Carnegie goalkeeper Lewis Hill.

Williams also put a decent chance over the bar from close range.

Williams made no mistake on ten minutes when he went past a defender on the left side of the box and fired home inside the near post.

Jackson doubled the advantage on 17 minutes with a powerful header from Simpkins’ inviting cross.

Carnegie got one back three minutes later when, from a disputed corner, Jack Smith’s instinctive shot bounced down off the crossbar and was adjudged to have crossed the line.

Welfare got the third goal they had been threatening just after the hour mark when Mansaram headed home Williams’ cross from the left.

Armthorpe, who are 16th in Division One, host Swallownest on Saturday.
