A Doncaster stop smoking service will be visiting two hospitals in the borough this week encouraging mums-to-be to quit smoking this October.

Staff from Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust will be promoting Stoptober - which encourages people to seek help to stamp out the habit.

The team will launch the Stoptober campaign in the Women’s Hospital at Doncaster Royal Infirmary tomorrow and on Thursday at Mexborough Montagu Hospital.

They will also be at the two hospitals throughout the month of October to continue to offer support and advice for mums.

Staff members will also be distributing hundreds of ‘how to stop smoking’ leaflets at a number of children’s centres in Doncaster - encouraging mums to seek support to stop smoking.

Amanda Capper, of the stop smoking service, said: “We know that if you can stop smoking for 28 days you are five times more likely to stay smokefree, and Stoptober leads smokers through a detailed step-by-step programme to help them achieve this goal.”

If you are a mum with a child under the age of one or a mum-to-be and want help to quit smoking please call the RDaSH stop smoking team on 01302 876290.
