Susan Gatenby visited The Dome on August 1 with her two children Joey Gatenby, seven, and five-year-old Courtney Gatenby.

The 33-year-old says that as she and her two children were swimming in the main pool at the facility, she saw some excrement on the side of the pool, near to the family slide.

Ms Gatenby claims that after reporting the stray stool to a lifeguard at The Dome, it took over 45 minutes for it to be cleaned away.

However, a spokesperson for The Dome has disputed this - claiming it took less than 10 minutes for the situation to be ‘dealt with’.

They continued: “On August 1 a customer alerted a lifeguard to an area at the side of the pool where there was faeces on the floor.

“Unfortunately all leisure pools across the country where children swim experience this kind of thing regularly, but as a result of this all staff are trained to follow the company procedures.

“Our staff did exactly that and cordoned the area off immediately and dealt with the situation within 10 minutes as our CCTV footage confirms.

“At no point during her visit did the customer complain to any member of staff or the management team, she continued to use the facilities along with her children and the issue was sorted.

“We have since received a complaint from the customer which has been dealt, again following company procedures.

“We are satisfied that our staff dealt with the situation quickly and efficiently.”

Ms Gatenby, who travelled from Selby, to visit The Dome continued: “I’ve always heard that The Dome has a great swimming pool, and it is a good facility.

“I’ve had to complain because we just couldn’t carry on swimming after seeing a poo near the pool, it ruined our day!

“I just hope this doesn’t happen again because it isn’t what you want to see when you go swimming!”
