Motorists warned as major Doncaster road to be closed for five weeks

Motorists in Doncaster have been warned to expect delays and diversions with the closure of one of the town’s key routes for five weeks.

Sprotbrough Road will be closed out of town from October 16 to November 20 while new gas pipelines are laid.

The route will be closed from St Mary’s Roundabout to Anchorage Lane.

The road will still be open in the opposite direction heading from Sprotbrough into Doncaster.

There will also be disruption for bus passengers.

Service 49 will not serve Sprotbrough Road and Melton Road during the above dates.

Service 219 and 219a to Barnsley will also not serve Sprotbrough Road and Melton Road, with diversions in place on all routes.

Service 441 to Scawsby and Ridgewood School departing at 7.50am from Doncaster Interchange will serve its usual route but in the opposite direction with bus stops on the other side of the road.

All journeys to Doncaster Interchange will be unaffected.
