Motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in collision

A DONCASTER motorcyclist had to have his thumb amputated after being in collision with a car.

Police are appealing for information on the incident in which the 39-year-old also sustained other “serious injuries”.

The incident happened on Manchester Road, Sheffield on Sunday, July 15, at approximately 3.05pm when the yellow BMW S1000 motorcycle was travelling towards Sheffield City Centre along Manchester Road, Rivelin.

On approach to the waterworks, police believe that the driver of the motorcycle was in the process of overtaking several stationery vehicles when it collided with a blue Honda Jazz driven by a 64-year-old woman who was completing a right turn into the entrance of the waterworks.
