MODEL pupils at two Doncaster schools have scooped top prizes in a national design competition.
The talented youngsters from Scawsby’s Saltersgate Juniors and Sprotbrough’s Copley Junior schools beat off hundreds of other pupils to win a haul of trophies.
In the competition finale in Manchester, they had to design and build a model which could move forwards and backwards, and could climb a steep ramp.
Saltersgate pupils Nathan Williams and Ben Robertson, both 11, spent weeks meticulously planning and developing their design, based on a moon buggy.
Their efforts impressed a panel of judges so much that the pair were placed first and brought home a number of trophies for the school.
Copley Junior School headteacher Alan White added: “I think it absolutely tremendous. We like our pupils to take part in as many different activities as they can and they’ve done really well.”
Both schools got to the final round after a regional final at Ridgewood School.
