Mock tribunals bring law to life for Barnsley students
Insight in to the workings of employment law became clear to students during two mock tribunal sessions.
Barnsley college business students learned from solicitor Toby Pochron, of Ironmonger Curtis LLP, how an employment tribunal operates, what businesses must do to avoid being taken to a tribunal and the likely outcomes of unfair dismissal claims.
Students split into teams. Student Harry Airstone said: “The session had the same set-up as a real tribunal with proper questions being asked. I wasn’t sure how a tribunal worked but now I am aware of what happens. I was a judge and it was fun as everyone was quite competitive and wanted to win.”
