Misterton pupil and staff enjoy trip to country park

Sculpture vultures from Misterton Primary School enjoyed a trip out at the end of last term.

The whole school, including staff and pupils, and some governors, visited the 150-acre historic parkland at Rufford Abbey Country Park in North Nottinghamshire.

A spokesman said: “Apart from a midday cloud burst, the weather stayed fine and children had the chance to see the sculpture trail, the contemporary craft centre, gardens, woodland walks, play village, and ice cave.”

Included in the day’s activities was the chance to learn about a Silver Tree sculpture by Hilary Cartmel, which is made of stainless steel, glass, and bronze.

The primary school is also set to host a summer workshop led by Misterton’s musical theatre academy, Be’Dazzled next month.

Daily workshops between Monday, August 24 and Friday, August 28 will include singing, vocal technique, musical theatre, dance, acting, choreography, and an end-of-week performance.

The week’s workshop is £50 and is also a great opportunity to get a taste of what Be’Dazzled does.

It is open to youngsters of all abilities aged four to 17.

Be’Dazzled have just had a successful show at Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough, when pupils performed Memories, their own take on the well-known musical, Cats.

The next performance is at the end of the winter term and will comprise a medley of musical numbers and acting pieces.
