Mexborough’s marathon man Tommy Joyce MBE handed over the proceeds of a charity treadmill run to the former civic mayor of Doncaster.
The 65-year-old, of Maple Road, ran non-stop for five hours on a treadmill at Doncaster’s Frenchgate Centre and raised £460.
He presented a cheque to Christine Mills, the former civic mayor, at the Mansion House in Doncaster, who donated the money to the Firefly cancer charity.
Councillor Mills said: “I am proud to be able to accept these cheques and grateful to everyone who helped raise this money for this wonderful charity.
“Cancer touches most families at some time. Some patients find it difficult to access intensive treatments and travelling to hospital can prove difficult at a time when they are emotionally and physically drained.
“Firefly provides transport links, support and coping strategies to make the experience a little easier.”
