As schools and communities prepare to launch crazy and colourful events across the region for Children in Need this week, one Doncaster event will be a very messy affair with ‘special guests’.
‘Let’s Get Messy for Children in Need’ is for babies, toddlers and children (mums, dads and carers) and takes place tomorrow (Wednesday November 11).
Expect paints, glitter, jelly, foam and more squidgy stuff at Bullcroft Memorial Hall, Carcroft, from noon to 2pm.
There will be a special visit from Peppa Pig and George Pig, and a whole mass of activity to keep everyone happy and raise mountains of cash for Children in Need.
Along with very messy play, there will be creatures such as meerkats, tarantulas, raccoon dog, a 12 foot python, giant rabbits, and tortoises etc for children to hold and be photographed with.
Re-Read will be there, giving away children’s books to encourage children to read, and Doncaster Children’s Centres’ staff will attend, along with Doncaster health visiting and health promotion teams to promote positive health in children and babies and to give out free help guides.
Freshly baked cakes and used toys will be for sale, and a local facepainter is donating her services for the charity.
A raffle and tombola with masses of prizes will add to the fun occasion.
Organiser Kellie Southwell said: “I enjoy encouraging helping children to develop skills to the best of their ability and I think this event will encourage babies, toddlers and children to develop skills in all areas including social, emotional, intellectual and cognitive development whilst raising money for children in need.”
Halifax Bank has agreed to match the funds raised, and have provided a half an hour BBC Pudsey Bear appearance, with Pudsey there to greet guests at noon.
