MAYOR Peter Davies is one of two Doncaster dignitaries to be elected on to the new South Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel.
Mr Davies and Coun Patricia Bartlett are part of the 12-strong panel which will be responsible for scrutinising and supporting the Police and Crime Commissioner in their role of holding the Chf Cons to account and agreeing the police precept and police and crime plan.
A chairman will be elected at the panel’s first meeting at Rotherham Town Hall on Monday, October 15.
Plans to set out how the panel will operate will also be decided during the meeting.
The panel includes Sheffield’s Coun Harry Harpham, Coun Helen Mirfin-Boukouris, Coun Talib Hussain and Coun Sylvia Anginotti, Rotherham pairing Coun Jahangir Akhtar and Coun Terry Sharman and Barnsley’s Coun Ken Richardson and Coun May Noble.
Two independent members are also currently being recruited to join the panel. It is intended that they will be in place by the end of October.
Elections for the police and crime commissioner will be held on November 15.
