Maths teaching good at South Axholme, says Ofsted

Staff and pupils at South Axholme Academy are celebrating their good work in mathematics, as confirmed by Ofsted inspectors.

A report following a visit by the education watchdogs as part of the subject survey inspection programme found effectiveness, leadership and teaching of the subject to be good as it prepares to introduce A-level maths from September 2015.

develop understanding’, says the report. Examples of outstanding practice were seen and the mathematics teaching assistant gives high quality support, said inspectors.

The only areas for improvement were to ensure that students make maximum use of detailed written feedback given to them in their books, and to increase the amount of outstanding teaching.
