Masked man threatens staff with a knife at Doncaster supermarket

A masked man stormed into a Doncaster supermarket and threatened staff with a knife before stealing money from the till.

At around 10pm on Saturday May 7 a man wearing a balaclava entered the Co-op supermarket on Crosslands Way and threatened a member of staff with a knife.

The man demanded that the till be opened and stole cash before leaving the scene.

He is described as around 6ft, of slim build wearing a grey jumper and light blue jacket.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Steve Ramsbottom said: “Fortunately the member of staff was not injured however they are understandably very distressed by the incident.

“We would appeal to anyone who was in or around the shop at the time or saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.

“We are following a number of lines of enquiry, including reviewing CCTV, and welcome any information that will lead to the arrest of this individual.

“I would ask shop owners and customers to be vigilant around store closing times and report anything suspicious to us.”
