A TEENAGE street dancer beat hundreds of other young hopefuls to work with Madonna’s choreographer and win a £10,000 contract.
Mark Gauden, 18, was just one of eight dancers who impressed judges in the final of the Schwarzkopf’s Street Dance - The Search competition held in London.
The freestyling ‘body popper’ won the chance to be a part of new dance crew ‘atti2ude’ and be trained by one of the best choreographers in the business, Sisco Gome,z and a £10,000 joint contract.
Sisco has worked with the likes of pop superstars Madonna, Janet Jackson and Pink and is currently a judge on BBC1’s So You Think You Can Dance?
Mark, of Walbank Road, Armthorpe, said: “It’s been awesome. I’m learning so much. Sisco is so funny, he’s not strict and he’s a perfectionist so I love learning from him. I’m a freestyle dancer so to be using choreography is something new but it’s enjoyable.I want to do everything to improve my chances of being the best that I can be, this is helping me achieve that so much.”
As part of the competition, Mark, who teaches dancing at Armthorpe’s Tranmoor Primary School, will also be starring in a dance video and photo shoot before being entered into the UK’s biggest street dance competitions.
Mark -stage name is ‘The Gingerbreak Man’ - is no stranger to the stage having impressed Ashley Banjo of dance group Diversity in this year’s Sky One talent show Got To Dance.
