The partner of a Doncaster woman who was sexually assaulted in broad daylight is calling on police to make locals more aware of a spate of similar attacks.

A 42-year-old Doncaster woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at about 7.20am on Wednesday as she was out jogging close to Sheffield Road in the Denaby Ings area.

Now her partner, who cannot be named for legal reasons as it may identify the victim, is calling on South Yorkshire Police to do more following an apparent string of similar incidents that have taken place in the Denaby and Conisbrough areas.

Some eight sexually-motivated attacks have been reported in the same areas since February last year.

This includes an attack on a 23-year-old woman, who was sexually assaulted as she walked along Athelstane Road in Conisbrough on February 26.

South Yorkshire Police have previously confirmed that they believe the eight attacks could be linked.

A number of people have previously been arrested in connection with the spate, but a police spokesman said no-one is believed to have been charged.

The partner of the 42-year-old victim attacked this week told The Free Press: “After my partner was attacked I looked into it and despite the fact she reads the news she’s never heard anything about these attacks.

“It’s not enough to be putting things on social media – the police need to be putting these e-fits on posters around the area so people in the area know to look out.

“To anyone who lives there just make sure you’re safe and don’t be taking shortcuts or anything like that – it’s really not worth the risk.

“When I showed her the e-fits which shows someone with stubble, even though the man who attacked her was clean-shaven, she said she thought that might have been him but she’s going to do a composite sketch with the police which will help.

“The police were there really quickly and stayed with her for a long time, which is good, but I think more people do need to be warned about this sex attacker being out there.”

The suspect is described as a white male, about 20 years of age, 6ft tall, with a slim build and short dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police via 101 and quoting incident number 167 from August 12.
