Man in hospital after major Doncaster road sealed off by police

A major Doncaster road has been sealed off by police this afternoon following a road collision which has seen a man taken to hospital.

Thorne Road is shut between Queen’s Road and King's Road in Doncaster town centre following the incident earlier this afternoon.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said that police were called to the scene shortly before 1pm.

A statement said: “Police were called at 12.48pm today with reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Thorne Road.

“One person, the pedestrian, has been taken to hospital.”

The road remains closed at this time.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area with the collision having taken place near to the Kellett Hotel and the Kingthorne Group Practice GP surgery.

Bus routes in the area are also being disrupted, with services connecting Armthorpe, Intake and Doncaster Royal Infirmary impacted.
