Coun Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council said: “I am delighted that the LEADER programme has been awarded further funding to provide a new programme across Northern Lincolnshire. It is important that our rural areas aren’t forgotten about as they are a vital part of our economy and communities.

“The last round of LEADER funding from 2008 to 2013 made a huge difference to our rural communities through helping deliver 88 projects and creating five new jobs. It was awarded £2.5m, which was match-funded to create over £4.2m in funding. I am positive this new round of funding will be just as successful at helping rural communities.”

The 2008 to 2013 LEADER funding programme was delivered following three main priorities. These were:

Basic services for the economy and rural population

Village renewal and development

Conservation and upgrading of the rural heritage
