M18 closed in both directions tonight as police deal with major incident

The M18 motorway has been closed in both directions in South Yorkshire tonight as emergency services deal with a major incident.

Highways England said the road is closed between J1 for Bramley and J2 for the A1(M).

A tweet said: “@SYPOperations and #TrafficOfficers on scene dealing with the incident.”

Traffic had earlier been held in both directions for the incident before the decision was taken to close the carriageways completely.
