Louis Tomlinson tells of caring for younger siblings in wake of mum and sister's deaths

The pop star lost his mum Johannah in December 2016 to leukaemia while his sister Felicite died of an overdose last year.

Louis, 28, has revealed that since the death of his mother he has been paying for his sisters Daisy and Phoebe, 16, to attend an 'expensive' private school outside Doncaster.

But the singer says he doesn't want to be painted as a 'good guy' for helping his family and revealed that he finds 'strength' in being their for others.

In an interview with Telegraph Magazine, he said: 'Without being too soppy, I like looking after people, it's cool'.

He revealed: 'Both [deaths] felt very individual, and hit me with a big impact... but I think dealing with the family, how I can be there for them, that was a lot easier the second time because the first time I was grieving and I didn't know what to say.'

An inquest heard aspiring fashion designer Felicite, originally from Doncaster, fell into depression and started abusing drugs following the death of her mother.

She was found collapsed in her bed by her schoolfriend Zainab Mohammed.

In 2016, his mum was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment. She died shortly before Christmas 2016.

Louis said: 'A lot of people recommended it [therapy] but I'm a little bit old fashioned when it comes to therapy. I'm sure it's incredible but I thought I'd be alright, and I have been until now.'

In October last year, Louis said he feels he is now in a 'good place in life' following the deaths.

He continued: 'I feel like I'm in a good place in my life, and naturally with that comes happier songs. So I think it all depends on what head space you're in, really, at the time.'

His debut album Walls is set to be released on January 31.
