Officers said this morning (Sunday, April 19) that the cause of the noise was their personnel dealing with a severely injured deer in Auckley that had been hurt in a collision with a vehicle.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police posted on the forces’s social media page: “In case anyone heard three loud bangs in the Auckley area around 01.30am.“There is nothing to worry about. It was officers having to deal with a Deer that have been badly injured as a result of an RTC. Unfortunately it was not able to be saved.”
