Local football: Harworth Colliery back on track

Tommy Durrant and James Woodward shared out the Harworth goals as they bounced back from their 1-0 home defeat against leaders Phoenix in midweek.

Austin Hallam scored what turned out to be a consolation goal for the visitors, who remain in the bottom half of the 15-strong league.

Askern did third-placed Colliery a favour when holding Phoenix to a 1-1 draw.

Free-scoring striker Steve McDonnell took his tally for the season to 30 but a Danny Jones goal ensured the Doncaster side shared the spoils.

Brodsworth held on to eighth spot following a 7-2 win over Dinnington Town at their new base at The Avenue.

Jack Varley led the way with a hat trick and Bradley Maddison chipped in with a double.

Brad Sykes and Josh Bowkett (penalty) also netted.

Harworth Colliery’s second string won 4-0 in their Reserve Division clash at Belper United thanks to a Mick Wibberley brace and single strikes by Jordan Waplington and Matty Smith.

Steven Oates and sub Harnick Gill also got in on the act.

Duncroft United beat South Elmsall United Services by the odd goal in three.

Unbeaten Askern, who reached the last four of the Division One Cup in midweek, won 4-1 at Doncaster Town.
