LIVE REVIEW: We love Beatles tribute show - yeah, yeah, yeah!

The number of people lucky enough to have seen the Beatles in concert is sadly diminishing by the year.

Let It Be: A Celebration of The Music of The Beatles

Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield

Until February 27

It is now more than 50 years since the Fab Four took the world by storm, Beatlemania gripping the globe as John, Paul, George and Ringo delivered one memorable song after another.

Naturally, for obvious reasons, we'll never see their like again, and so the closest thing you're going to get is a tribute.

And if you're looking for one that ticks all the boxes - then you've found it in Let It Be.

The costumes (everything from the early days in the Cavern up to Sgt Peppers and Abbey Road), the carefully copied moves and habits of those lovable Liverpool mop tops (even down to the Scouse accents, with varying degrees of success!) and also news clips and TV ads of events, times and people from the Swinging Sixties.

But of course, its the music we're all here for to sing along, clap along and dance along to - and for more than two hours its one wonderful hit after another.

The songs themselves go without saying and don't even need an introduction - but everything from I Saw Her Standing There to Day Tripper, Strawberry Fields Forever to Penny Lane and Revolution to While My Guitar Gently Weeps get chucked into the mix.

Touches of comedy all add to the trip down memory lane for a fantastic night of music that any Beatles fan of any age will love.

Highlight was an acoustic session where each 'Beatle' took their turn in the spotlight to perform solo numbers - stripped back of the frills, just pure great musicianship and of course, those amazing songs.

Top it all off with a rousing singalong finale of Hey Jude and its the closest you'll ever get to a Beatles gig. Without the incessant screaming, of course.
