Residents are demanding Doncaster Council takes action to clean up a litter-strewn street they claim has been making residents’ lives a misery for five years.
Householders on Alexandra Road in Balby say they are fed up with living on the street because it regularly resembles a rubbish dump.
Phil Holland said he has been complaining about the issue for five years but nothing is being done.
“It’s absolutely hideous living in these conditions, I can’t even open my front door without rubbish blowing into the house.
“The street is about 200 yards long and there are days when I could walk the full length of the street without standing on one bit of clean pavement.
“I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle with Doncaster Council, they don’t care.”
Mr Holland claimed most litter comes from overfilled green recycling boxes.
Doncaster Council assistant director of environment Gill Gillies said: “We are aware of the issue of illegally dumped waste and litter on Alexandra Road, and over the last year have investigated 23 instances of fly tipping in that area.
“We have multiple teams working together to investigate the situation, clear up waste when it is tipped on council land, and monitor the location to try and prevent this problem.”
Fines have been issued.
