A fundraising mission to send a youngster to America for surgery that could help her walk for the first time is gathering pace.
In just eight weeks £15,000 has been raised for Mae Louisa Lilly Fox, three, who has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy - the most severe form of the condition.
Her parents are desperately trying to raise £70,000 to send Mae for pioneering surgery in Missouri.
Ever since the Hope4Mae campaign was launched residents have been rallying round organising fundraising events to help make the dream a reality. Staff and exercise enthusiasts at Xercise4less raised £600 for the fund with a two hour body combat event. Meanwhile staff and pupils at Lakeside Primary are hoping to give the fund a boost on July 5 with cash raised from their annual summer fair going to Mae. Mum, Amy Wildsmith, 28, of Birch Road, Cantley said: “Mae’s fund will be over £15,000 and in our eighth week, we can’t thank people enough.”
