Lib Dems pick mayoral hope

THE Liberal Democrats have selected their candidate to fight Doncaster’s forthcoming mayoral contest.

The party has picked Doncaster-born and bred John Brown to stand against Peter Davies when the town goes to the polls on May 2.

He said: “Doncaster must again be a great place for people to live, work, learn and thrive in.

“I want Doncaster to thrive again. I want more new jobs and wealth here in Doncaster, and I want to create new educational and business opportunities for all Doncaster people.

“And I want Doncaster to have its own bank ‘The Doncaster’ to power our own recovery.”

Mr Brown will be among the candidates taking part in an election hustings debate on April 10.
