Labour condemn police cuts

DONCASTER’S Labour councillors have condemned cuts to the South Yorkshire Police budget.

In a motion to full council, ward members expressed concerns about the 20 per cent cut to the region’s police budget which they fear will affect crime rates in the borough.

Doncaster Labour Group Leader, Sandra Holland, said: “These cuts to our Police budget that have been passed down from the Tory-led Government are putting the safety of residents at risk.

“Because of these massive cuts, it is predicted that South Yorkshire Police will have lost 436 Police Officers by 2015. There is no way that a loss of that proportion won’t have an effect on front line services.”
