students at a Doncaster school have cooked up a storm and won a special award for their efforts.
Coppice School has been singled out for praise after launching a new Let’s Get Cooking club for children.
The club has been awarded a Golden Spoon gong after using cooking to teach pupils with special educational needs an important life skill.
Katherine Deacey, who helps run the club, said: “Many of our pupils have autism and can be really anxious in new situations, but the way Let’s Get Cooking allows you to teach them in small steps has worked perfectly. It’s meant they can build confidence over time and not feel overwhelmed.”
